Associative & Semantic Browsing
Semantic Browser ASB
The ASB tool is usable for comprehensive cluster and knowledge
tree browsing. The user browses intuitively and in an associative manner
in coupled subject trees and knowledge domains. It provides a service for easy and
comfortable knowledge and data discovery through showing up relationships between
objects and related knowledge areas. The ASB module accesses the coupled subject
and task trees (domains) stored in the kernel module. The knowledge objects recommended
by the system are rated with respect to given relevancy coefficients and are
furthermore clustered with respect to the user chosen input values and requests. Comprehensive
presentation pages and given URLs provide detailed investigation facilities of the
object itself. Five different kind of associative cluster browsing is implemented:
- keyword browsing
This tool provides simple keyword browsing. The user
starts selecting a known keyword - the system recommends objects with high relevancy
coefficients. The objects are sorted in three sub classes according to
their relationship and relevancy related to the users request. Additionally
related and weighted keywords are provided for further searching by click.
- browsing by keyword-keyword (fuzzy context) switching
A tool for switching and "jumping" between keywords in
relation to different subject trees. The related keywords are presented also
within 3 sub classes. For each keyword exists different subclasses.
- author browsing
A browsing facility for searching specific authors and
related authors working in related areas. Herewith a tool is given for
discovering and exploring related and/or specialized authors and scientists
linked to chosen and predefined knowledge and working areas.
- title browsing
Title browsing - presenting related titles with respect to
related objects. The main information source is hereby given within the title.
- subject tree browsing
showing the objects related to a chosen subject resp. domain;
information about relevancy coefficients and relationship coefficients to further
domains,
For all recommended objects a consecutive processed presentation
page gives more detailed information and the links to the original objects.
Semantic Information Integration
The search request as textual information is combined with structured
(semantically annotated) information (e.g. lists, databases, meta data) and further given
kernel and domain specific access rules (rule base).
Instead of providing links to sites and documents containing the requested content
the main ability of the system is to provide essential knowledge content (concepts, conceptional
objects).
